ROLANDE DEMARCKE (nee RAYNAUD) Peacefully on Monday, October 19, 2009 at Foyer Valade, our beloved mother passed away at 96 years of age. Rolande is survived by her eight children, Madeleine (Tony), Andy (Irene), Lucille (Jerry), Irene, Hector (Annette), Roland (Carol), Raymond (Rhonda) and Noel (Doris); 25 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters-in-law, Lillian Blahnik, Denise Demarcke and Veronique Raynaud, as well as numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph, her brothers, Paul (Germaine), Roger, René and her sister Raymonde Colle (Maurice); and granddaughter Joanne and great-grandson Jeremy. Rolande was born on October 4, 1913 and raised in Prairie Grove, MB. She married Joseph Demarcke on October 21, 1939 and settled on the farm just outside Ile-des-Chênes raising her family. Rolande was a dedicated wife and mother and took pleasure in receiving large groups of family and friends. Sunday dinner at grandma's was always a special treat. She excelled in cooking; she loved dancing and gardening. She was an affectionate person, kind and caring, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. She cared for her aging parents, mother first, then her father many years later. In the years between, she kept her ailing mother in-law. Her greatest asset was her never-tiring smile. The staff at Foyer Valade would frequently comment about her easy nature and beautiful smile. The family wishes to express their gratitude to each and every staff member for the care and compassion they bestowed upon our mother. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 23 at the Notre Dame de la Miséricorde Roman Catholic Church in Ile-des-Chênes, MB. Cremation has taken place and interment of the cremated remains will follow in the Ile-des-Chênes Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Foyer Valade, 450 River Rd., Winnipeg, MB R2M 5M4. Le Claire Brothers in care of arrangements, 775-2220.
